Finish Crew working on the Finish CorralThe prinicple task of the Finish Crew is to build and maintain the Finish Corral, a specially fenced area in which racers stop after crossing the finish line.

The Finish Crew builds the Finish Corral a day or two before the first training run and then takes the corral down immediately following the last race, at the end of the event.

On race days, crew members need to be on hand to make repairs in the event that a racer "challenges" the corral fence.  Also, every night the corral is "opened up" to permit groomers to pass into the corral area.  Each morning, the opening has to be closed off and the corral returned to it's normal state, ready for the day's racing.

Finish Corral for 2008 World CupIn 2008, with four World Cup events, we expect that there will be a significant amount of work to be done in setting up and maintaining the entire Finish Area.  There will be more formal areas for holding racers, media areas and VIP areas to build and maintain.  There may also be bleachers to construct and take down.  In addition, the corral will be wider, so as to accommodate both men's and woment's tracks.   New fencing matierial is expected to permit the larger corral..

The Finish Crew is a great option for volunteers who are not strong skiers, but who want to be involved in some way, on the snow.

Many Finish Crew members also belong to the Beer Tent crew and/or the Transportation Crew, as part time drivers.
