The Whistler Cup Returns


The Whistler Weasel Workers again have to opportunity to assist with one of the world's premier ski races for juveniles.   The Whistler Cup returns to Whistler on April  10 for three days of racing by the top juvenile ski racers from 19 countries.  Here's an opportunity to join other Weasels in a fun event, to enjoy Whistler's Spring weather and to help develop the next generation of Canadian skiers.

Lynne Hume, Whistler Cup Administrator and  Wayne Holm, Whistler Cup Chairman have exteneded an invitation to the Weasels to  ......... 

" join us for the 17th annual Whistler Cup – International Juvenile Ski Race. 

This race has become a highlight for kids all over the world.  We were worried that the economic situation would affect the team numbers but no such thing – 19 countries will be attending with their best racers competing for the coveted spots.  The teams start arriving Apr 5. 

The event is Apr 10,11,12 which is Easter weekend, with speed events running on Raven Ptarmigan and technical events on Upper Dave Murray.

Set up is Apr 4,5.  Meet at 9am at the Garbo Hut (top of Garbanzo Chair)

Past Whistler Cup participants include current world cup racers Britt and Michael Janyk, Manny Osborne-Paradis, Robbie Dixon, Kelly Vanderbeek, Erik Guay, Jan Hudec, Emily Brydon, Gen Simard, Anja Paerson, Benjamin Raich, Lindsay Vonn, Julia Mancuso, Tina Maze, Nicole Hosp, Denise Karbon, Marco Sullivan just to name a few.

Weasel Workers who have enjoyed working on the Whistler Cup include John Benbow, Dave Oser, John Rea, George Robinson, Brad Keats, Rick Hume, Don Appelle, Ian Andrukow, Chrisine Yanisiw, Lockie Brown, Glen Bayliss, Thom Theys and many others.  Thom Theys has had so much fun at the Whistler Cup that he is planning to come back from California, even after a full stint at the IPC World Cup.  Petra Mickova also plans to participate this year.

Come out for some "sun and fun" and a last chance this year to rub shoulders with some of your old Weasel friends.
