Beer Tent

Things you need to know

The Weasel Beer Tent is a tradition that dates from the dawn of time and will be in operation again in 2008, throughout our February events.  For 2008, we are pleased to announce our first outdoor Beer Garden.  However, patio seating may be limited and there will be no patio service.   For your safety, please keep well away from the railings.

Dates and Times
The Beer Tent will be erected on Feb 1 and will go into operation at 4:00 PM on Feb 2.  We will operate from 4:00PM to 7:00PM daily until the 24th.  Operations will be curtailed on days that Safety Meetings or other special events are scheduled.Beer tent location on Creekside Parkade

Location

Parking
Unless you are helping the Beer Tent crew, there is no parking near the Beer Tent.  This is part of our agreement with local merchants.  Please respect it.

NEW THIS YEAR

Outdoor Garden and Meeting Tent
The Beer Tent will be a compound that includes our usual Beer Tent, a separate Meeting Tent plus an open area between the tents and enclosed by a fence.  Beer may be taken into the enclosed open area (smokers rejoice) and into the Meeting Tent.  No Beer outside the compound.

Minors Permitted
We have won a very special dispensation that permits minors in the Beer Tent.  That means babes in arms and kids with their parents can attend.   However, all of the usual BC Liquor Laws apply and minors must not drink.

Two forms of ID may be required at the door, in order to receive a cup.    Personal, patron-supplied  cups are not permitted.

Survival Rules

  1. No beer outside the compund.
  2. No drinking by minors.   Drinking age in BC is 19 yrs.  (Younger members may be asked for ID incl. photo ID)
  3. Only registered volunteers are permitted (and their children).  Sorry, no guests, including spouses.  Only exception may be team members visiting to speak to the volunteers
  4. Show your accreditation at the door and recieve a cup with your name on it.  Don't lose your cup!
  5. Clean up after yourselves.  The Beer Tent crew are not janitors.  Garbage bags will be provided.  Please use the right ones.
  6.  We recycle.   Cups and bottles in "plastics" bin, pop cans and any bottles in separate bins.
  7. Six-meter rule.    If it's busy, please don't hang around the bar after being served.  Move off to have your conversations and leave space for others to be served.  Don't crowd the bartender and definitely, NO SELF SERVE.
  8. No smoking in either tent.

We've made some real progress this year in regard to a secure place for smokers and being able to accommodate minors. This may bring us special attention and we must ensure we're consistently operating within the rules.

The intent of the Beer Tent is to provide volunteers some social time and an opportunity to discuss the events of the day. We are constrained by budgets, so please remember that there are often crews working late and they would like to have a little food and refreshment left when they get off the hill.  Please limit your visit to a couple of hours.  Thanks

Also, please remember that we are responsible for our patrons  until they recover their "normal frame of mind".  Please give us a break.  Limit yourself and get home safely.   Thanks from your friendly Beer Crew.
