Bruce Littlejohn, King of the AirwavesBruce Littlejohn relates a bit of Whistler Weasel Worker history and provides some great photography from Sierra Nevada, which is near Granada in Spain

In 1994 or '95, Hans Timmermans who was in charge of events for Sierra Nevada visited Whistler to learn how we hosted and organized World Cup events.  After he returned to Spain, Hans wrote to invite the Weasel Workers to participate in the upcoming 1995 World Championships in Spain. Bruce pulled together a small crew consisting of himself, Roger Tremblay, Dave Banbury, DJ Lawrence, Gord Stone and a 6th person. Before the group left, the event was cancelled due to a lack of snow. However Roger, Bruce, and Dave went anyway.

Bruce recalls, " We were very well received and, in fact, we even met the King of Spain, The Spaniards did everything to make our stay memorable. When we arrived at the mountain and were identified as "Whistler Weasels" the whole town opened up to us. It was fantastic!"

The next year, in 1996, the Weasels were invited back, when a successful World Championships was held, including the first night slalom competiton.   Roger, Owen Carney, Bob Miller, Gary Taylor, DJ, and Gord Stone went and had an equally great time.

Bruce adds that Sierra Nevada had the finest radio system for their World.Championships he has ever seen, and that was a long time ago.

Bruce has provided us with a very short promotional video he obtained from his Spanish Connection.  Click here to view it. The photography is excellent, although the 5.5 MByte '.pps'  file takes a while to load (don't try it with dialup).   Be patient and enjoy!
