Training Session for Section and Crew Chiefs
All Section and Crew Chiefs that will be working on the Canadian National Championships, the World Junior Qualifications or the Whistler Alpine World Cup Races are invited to attend an on hill “Train the Trainer” training session. Details are as follows:
DATE: Saturday, January 19th, 2008
TIME: Meet at 08:00 hrs, Load Gondola at 08:30
LOCATION: Meeting at Dusty’s Backside, Creekside, Whistler Mtn.
We will meet at Dusty’s Backside, planning to load the Creekside Gondola at 08:30 hrs. The on hill training location will be Net L3, skiers left, on Joker’s Traverse on the Ladies’ Course. Hopefully training can be completed early, so you can get in a few runs.

Training Objectives:
Alpina B/2 systems (Ingo Hopfgartner, Mark Appelman)
- Installing Alpina B/2 nets, standards and quality control
- Splicing nets together
- Separation between systems
- Interfacing with Alpina A/4 systems
- Rolling and storing
Alpina Slip Skirt Systems (Ingo Hopfgartner, Mark Appelman)
- Installing on A/4 Nets, connection straps, splices, tricks/traps
- Bottom Treatment, how far into the piste
- Maintenance during snowfalls
Safety Issues (Training Committee)
- Working Near Snowcats and Winch Cats (Dave Moore)
- Safe use of Crampons (Karl Ricker)
- Racer Down Protocol (Roger Tremblay)
- Radio Protocol (Dave Shefley)
- Transporting Equipment on Chairlifts and Gondolas (W/B)
