American racer, big bad Billy Johnson. First American male to win a
WC race (1984 Lauberhorn in Wengen) AND an Olympic Gold medal
(1984 in Sarajevo. Johnson also won the Whistler downhill in March 1984.

Whistler's great spring Classic, 'The Great Snow Earth Water Race'. Dave Murray used to do
all four sections: he skied, ran, biked, canoed and then ran again. The skiing section started
with a 'Chinese start' and ended with a run from the snowline to Whistler Village.

Mark Girardelli and father, Helmut
Austrian, Marc Girardelli and his dad Helmut - with habitual cigarette. Between 1983 and
1995, in addition to two Olympic silver medals earned at the 1992 Games in Albertville,
Girardelli won 11 World Championship medals including 4 golds. Girardelli won many
WC races in all disciplines.
